Lyrical Life Lessons is a project celebrating the power music and lyrics can have on our mental health. From showing us that someone out there understands, to giving us positive messages on how to live life, lyrics are a special part of the magic music has.

The project launched in 2018 with funding from the Glasgow Connected Arts Network. This funding allowed us to work with the Glasgow Association for Mental Health in teaching music themed creative workshops to young carers in the city, culminating in a short exhibition and a launch gig.

We received further funding from Creative Scotland in 2020/2021 to once again work with GAMH and their young adult group in the creation of a book of creative exercises and mindfulness activities with a music-themed twist which has become and essential resource for the charity.

TOGETHER WE STAND

Our absolute passion is working with organisations to create ways in which we can help others with their mental health. From the co-production of custom resources and workshops, to the opportunity to contribute to our online gallery of Lyrical Life Lessons, we seek to connect and create while celebrating the power of music and lyrics.

Please get in touch if you want to work together to bring a fun dose of positivity and creativity to your organisation/charity/school/workplace and we will work together to make it happen.

MORE THAN WORDS

SIMPLY THE BEST

ON WORKSHOPS

“…The workshops were always fun and creative using a coproduction collaborative approach which was always very effective in getting the engagement participation needed…”

COMPASSIONATE DISTRESS RESPONSE SERVICE (ON WORKBOOK)

“… I would say the large majority of the people who use our service now have one of these in their homes – it’s easy to understand and use wouldn’t be without it…”

ON PROJECT LEAD CAISHNAH NEVANS

“…Caishnah understand what it is like to work with services, and she also has very good skills of engaging with very vulnerable marginalised groups. Her creative ideas are exceptional. She is patient and is able to draw people in to get a project from start to finish.…”

Another important part of the project is YOU. We want to gather your lyrical lessons and learn more about the lyrics that speak to you. Tell us about the lyrics that make you feel better, that make you feel that you’re no longer alone in how you feel and the ones that remind you of important things to keep your life on track. You can remain completely anonymous and tell us as much or as little as you want. Fill in the form by clicking below and view our gallery to read some examples.
